  There are only really 2 absolute contraindications:

• Pneumothorax  (popped lung)
• Inability to equalize your ears

Proper time should be spent getting comfortable with the ear equalization process to reduce any issues here.

There are also about a dozen other relative contraindications for therapy depending on severity of other issues someone has or medications they are taking. If you are not sure about your specific situation, you should talk with your physician and make sure you are cleared for this therapy.

 Under normal circumstances, oxygen is absorbed into circulation when we breathe and transported throughout the body only by red blood cells.  Under pressure, oxygen can be dissolved into all of the body’s fluids, the plasma, the lymphatic system, the central nervous system fluids, and the bone.
